Shannon Shorr is a professional poker player originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and now residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. As of the Octopi Poker Forum launch, Shannon's career includes more than $12,000,000 in live tournament winnings.
Shannon stayed close to home for college, attending the University of Alabama. Like many poker players his age, Shannon withdrew from college to pursue poker professionally. He did, however, return two years later in 2008 and graduated in 2010.
In 2006, Shannon earned a breakout score of nearly $200,000 when he finished fourth in the Aussie Millions Main Event. Incredibly, the finish was Shannon's first recorded live tournament result. Since then, he's never looked back. Shannon's largest career win as of 2023 was from when he won the $10,000 buy-in Bellagio Cup II in 2006 for $960,690.
Up until 2023, Shannon had never won a World Series of Poker gold bracelet and was regularly considered one of the best poker players without WSOP gold. That all changed during the WSOP Online series on WSOP.com in the fall of 2023 when Shannon won not one but two WSOP gold bracelets.
Now married with two children, Shannon can most regularly be found playing poker tournaments around Las Vegas, and most specifically at the PokerGO Studio where he is a consistent competitor in the high-stakes PGT events that are offered. He's also started offering poker coaching services in recent years, looking to impart the knowledge and experience he's gained in nearly two decades of professional poker to others.
