Matt Hunt is a long-time poker pro and coach originally from the UK, currently residing in Las Vegas. He began playing poker professionally in 2011, racking up $3million in online tournament cashes before moving to the United States in 2017. Since then, he has split his playing time between online and live poker, achieving four WSOP final tables with two second-place finishes, as well as a 24th-place run in the 2023 $25k PokerStars Players' Championship event in the Bahamas.
As a coach, Matt has been working with students on a one-to-one basis since 2013, with over 4,000 hours of individual coaching sessions, as well as 200+ hours of live in-person workshops and classroom sessions. He has worked with multiple poker training outlets and organizations over the past decade or more, and is now part of the core coaching team at Octopi Poker. You can find him streaming weekly coaching sessions on the Octopi Poker YouTube channel at 10am Pacific time every Friday, or on his own YouTube channel, Poker Fluency.
Outside of poker, Matt enjoys a quiet family life with his wife and their two cats. He is an advocate for mental health and issues affecting the neurodivergent community, having been diagnosed with both severe ADHD and ASD. He also enjoys sports (mainly European football and cricket), video games, tattoo art, and true crime documentaries.
